The 3-plastic-Fresnel-lens optical system enables the formation of three optical axes. This results in a broad observation band for the observer, even when perception is indirect (reflection on walls). The advantage of the 3-lens optical system over mirror beacons and flashing beacons arises in the case of atmospheric disturbances such as mist, smoke, fog and snow, and also in the case of direct solar radiation.

Since, in comparison with mirror beacons, the 3-lens technology achieves the same nominal frequency with a third of the rotational speed, there results for the observer a 3-fold longer dwell time of the light on his eye, which generates considerably higher perception. Likewise, colour perception in the observer´s eye is also ensured at large distances.

The DC motor is kept at a constant rotational speed in the cold (as low as -20°C) and the heat (as high as +60°C) so that the blinker frequency is maintained at 2-4 4Hz.
