The BUEP concept is based on a safe relay control unit supported by electronic modules controlling the trackside components and resetting to initial state. The system is placed in an European format rack, the relay control unit in a relay group frame. The supply voltage is 115 / 230V AC. The complete level crossing protection unit will be delivered in a standard control cabinet and costly earthworks can be reduced.

The basic equipment is designed for single track level crossings. The BUEP hLz is designed for switching on/off manually. Automatic switch on/off using the PINTSCH train detectors FSP can be configured as well. Up to eight roadside signals can be controlled. Optionally a time-dependent automatic reset curcuit can be provided to switch off the BUEP hLz in the case of failure after a train has passed. The activation of the level crossing protection unit can be supervised by a monitoring lamp in the switching equipment or by a trackside acknowledge signal. Taking account of using safe relay technology and electronic modules the configuration of the control unit can easily be adapted to new requirements of the level crossing. A wide range of additional features can be added, e.g. control and supervision of factory gates behind the level crossing or radio control.
Due to the use of approved and standard modules of BUEP technology and their compact assembly a high reliability can be ensured. The BUEP hLz is the cost-conscious alternative for protecting level crossings on lines with simplified railway operation.
